Widget Laboratory has given Network Creators on the popular Do-It-Your-Self social network builder Ning a way to migrate their members to Ning competitor SocialGo.  SocialGo recently hired Widget Laboratory to provide their popular modular applications on their social community platform  which were once available to  Ning Network Creators. In Widget Laboratory’s most recent newsletter they state their reason for creating N*ngToGo. “We have developed a free and simple series of tools that will let you automatically migrate your membership to SocialGO and create a “merger” between your old Ning site and your new SocialGO premium site. This means that you can eliminate the cost of paying premium membership fees to Ning, while obtaining MORE power and control over your Social Network for the same cost per month or less.” This is as a result of Ning’s recent decision to remove the FTP and WebDav access, the closing of their Open API and Rest. Then their was the last straw, Ning created the “Ning.com” central site where all site members, from every Ning created site would now be connected. This made it much easier to loose members to other networks with similar interests. SoJo Labs plans to test this feature with it’s own Ning network http://sojournalists.ning.com/.
